A pair of original antique Thonet bentwood chairs C. 1920 (makers mark just distinguishable). The Queen Anne style back has a very stylish splat at its centre and the beautifully shaped legs are in the cabriole style which makes these chairs somewhat different from most Thonet designs. The solid seats have a characteristic Thonet ribbed pattern and are held in a bentwood shaped bezel. Great lines, patination and age to these chairs which we have left untouched save for a wax finish. Very good structural condition given age... no loose joints/wobbles. We see these as great hallway/bedroom chairs....unobtrusive, stylish and very elegant chair design from the early 20th century.
